PSi Lexicon

Submissions to the PSi Lexicon

The Lexicon is open for new entries. Each entry includes a concept and an expanded exploration of that concept in any two languages or forms.

The Lexicon accepts:

  • New entries: new concepts or ideas for the Lexicon. Each new entry includes a concept/idea, and a description of that concept/idea in any two languages or forms. We are open to reflections that work against definitions as a form of capture, as well as entries that explore poetics of translation and working across multiple epistemological sites. The submissions do not need to be in English.
  • Activations: pedagogical, critical or other encounters with Lexicon materials, which might result in new entries please contact Lexicon Officer on lexicon@psi-web.org
  • Takeovers: collaborative or collective engagements with existing or new lexicon entries please contact Lexicon Officer on lexicon@psi-web.org

All submissions require a proposal. All proposals should be sent to: lexicon@psi-web.org

Proposals

For new entries, the proposal should include

  • The concept/idea
  • A brief (150-300 words) context for your concept/idea
  • Description of the concept in at least two different languages, or two distinct forms (for eg, written and visual).
  • A short bio of author/s
  • A nomination for language (or form) specific readers. This allows the Lexicon to include as many languages as possible. The readers will be asked to confirm the entry is accessible in their language, and to comment on its suitability for the Lexicon.

For responses to existing entries, please add information on which entry you are creating a response or addition to.

For Activations and Takeovers, please include information on the nature of the proposed activation or collaboration, bios of key participants and any other relevant information. Proposals for Activations and Takeovers can be up to 600 words.

Submissions are only open to current PSi members at this time.

Please email your proposal to: lexicon@psi-web.org

Guidelines and further information

We welcome text, visual, audio or other creative formats. Audio and video files will be embedded into the entry.

We welcome multiple sign language formats.

New entries to be added to existing ones are welcome: we know that our concepts travel through time as well as between languages and places.

The PSi Lexicon does not accept work published elsewhere.

Submissions to the PSi Lexicon are open to all PSi members and collaborators. All entries and proposals are considered by the Lexicon Officer.

The nature of the Lexicon enables multiple approaches to citation, but we ask all authors to consider their citational approach, politics and style in the context of their entry.

We will endeavour to respond to all proposals within two weeks.
