ήρωας
1) In mythology and legend, a man, often of divine ancestry, who is endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for his bold exploits, and favoured by the gods.
2) A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life.
When Nietzsche talked about the death of God and defined his notion of the “overman”, a shift happened that changed the current belief of man and creation being the subject of a divine entity (God) and by declaring the death of God, the responsibility was given back to humanity for setting its own moral standards.
In this way the notion of ‘hero’ shifted and no longer signified a man who follows a given course of action derived from the Gods, but one who surpasses his own boundaries and limits following a set of codes or morals that within a constructed human environment would constitute his actions as ‘heroic’.
The antipodas of such a notion is the ‘antihero’ which seeks to place value not on the extreme and the wondrous, but the everyday and mundane in an attempt to elicit considerable sympathy and admiration and put the emphasis in the process of things that may potentially arrive to something of a ‘heroic’ nature rather than deifying action and prioritising product.

1) Στη μυθολογία ήρωας είναι ο άνθρωπος, συχνά θείας καταγωγής, ο οποίος είναι προικισμένος με πολύ θάρρος και δύναμη, φημίζεται για τα θαυμαστά κατορθώματά του, και ευνοείται από τους θεούς.
2) Ένα πρόσωπο που χαρακτηρίζεται για τους άθλους του θάρρους του ή την ευγενή φύση του σκοπού του, ειδικά ένας που έχει διακινδύνευσει ή θυσίασει την ζωή του.
Η αντίποδας μιας τέτοιας έννοιας είναι ο «αντιήρωας», ο οποίος επιδιώκει να τοποθετήσει αξία όχι στις ακραίες πράξεις και το θαυμαστό, αλλά στο καθημερινό και πεζό, σε μια προσπάθεια να καλλιεργήσει την συμπάθεια και το θαυμασμό και να δώσει έμφαση στην διαδικασία των πραγμάτων που μπορεί δυνητικά να οδηγήσει σε κάτι «ηρωικού» χαρακτήρα, εναντιώνοντας έτσι στην θεοποίηση όποιας δράσης και την ιεράρχηση του τελικού προϊόντος.
