Psychologists agree that all human beings are narcissists up to a point. However, the amount of how narcissism is either an authentic or a seeming sentiment of self-esteem remains unanswered until today.
Art constitutes the eternal coexistence of ugliness and beauty that is why even if narcissism is a basic characteristic of artist and stands out either indirectly or immediately in every artwork, the artist must have the capability and maturity to wipe out any trace of narcissism from his artwork, by the time of its pregnancy until the time of its birth.
It is certain that narcissism lies beneath birth of every artwork. Especially, narcissism feeds the art of dance, which is based on the mirroring and starts from the child age, the most critical age for identity (the majority of dance studios have mirrors).
The moment the artist decides his relationship with narcissism, it will define his further evolution. The narcissism though, does not go along with a creative team or group of people when they have a common vision.
The art has the power to convert negative components of narcissism into positive designation of beauty, which provokes positive feelings differently from the ugly images of everyday social and political life. Nevertheless, it is ironic that these ugly images come from the narcissism of the leaders of political, economic, social and artistic map and those who keep mirroring while they drink coffee and discuss their new artwork.
